Phoenix Restorations was established in 1999 by Glyn & Julie Evans.
.
A fee based on the estimated hours is charged for the design service but is refunded against the total if the project is commissioned.
Phoenix Restorations bespoke design service puts the emphasis on design, we also consider the client’s requirements and practicality, quality of construction and materials, essential aspects of the process collaborating and make changes before the project commences. Is it the original finish? Or have repairs and refinishing been carried out over the life time of the item, we can help you come to the right decision and retain the integrity and value of your furniture. As an example, it may be impractical to French polish a table top if the table is to be used every day, but the individual item has to be accessed on its own merits. Before any work is commenced we discuss the full range of restoration/conservation options with our clients. We offer fixed price quotations and all workmanship is guaranteed. The business is kept busy with plenty of restoration work and commissions for bespoke furniture.
Glyn emigrated from Ireland to Australia with Julie, his Australian wife in 1998, setting up Phoenix Restorations shortly after. This business then also branched out into the manufacture of quality hand crafted individual commissions (bespoke), such as kitchens and stand alone items. More emphasis was placed on the restoration of family heirlooms whilst continuing to retail a smaller mixed range of antique furniture.
A second business was started in 1992, Co Cork, Clonakilty, Phoenix Antiques, with Julie playing a major roll. He moved to Ireland in 1981 and began his own business, specializing in the restoration, Co Cork, Skibbereen, Country Pine Antiques, retail and export of antique Irish pine furniture.
Glyn was born in the United Kingdom and studied at Yeovil School of Art, Dip A.D. he then trained in antique restoration with David Seller’s at Cannon Court, foundation year and at Portsmouth University, Somerset. Based in South Gippsland on a country property with views of Wilsons Prom National Park, the business section of the property is comprised of two buildings totaling over 270 square metres with studio, workshop equipped with industrial wood working machinery and storage areas.
Phoenix Restorations offers a wide range of specialist services for the individual, these include antique furniture restoration and conservation, small business and insurance companies, design and manufacture of bespoke/custom made furniture and kitchens. (more).
